On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about something I think affects each of us at different times in our life.
I call it quiet resentment... and I suspect that you just might be familiar with it too.
You know that slow-building feeling that starts to agitate around inside you when you don't speak up, or you keep your needs to yourself...
Or you avoid having difficult conversations, or you keep taking on some old role that no longer feels good or right for you?
Over time, if left unchecked - those little bubbling emotions (“double, double toil and trouble”) can grow from being a quiet internal simmer to a loud external boil - that makes a damn mess all over the place.
So, if you’ve ever caught yourself silently keeping score, or saying shit like, “I’m fine” when you’re clearly not, or wondering to yourself, "Why do I always have to be the one who____?"
And if you feel like you’re more often than not the giver, the doer, and the initiator of reaching out first...
Then this sucker is totally for you!
I explore how unspoken resentment can affect your body, weaken trust, and diminish emotional intimacy.
I also get into why it can help to treat resentment as a signal that something feels unfair or needs your attention.
You’ll hear some practical ways to check in with yourself and name what you’re feeling, and how to express your needs with others using “I” statements - instead of throwing blame around.
My hope is that this episode helps you to feel more willing and prepared to have honest, courageous, and "loving-but-firm" conversations...
BEFORE shit gets weird and frustration turns into a blow-up or crash out that could have been avoided all together.
This is an episode that can help us to build healthier communication with ourselves and in our relationships! ❤️
